DOCTOR LETAMENDI SQUARE.
by Josep M. CarandellA

From the window that looks out onto Doctor Letamendi Square, Josep Maria Carandell (Barcelona, 1934) has witnessed all kinds of events. For more that thirty years now, he has been looking on life passing by below in the shape of countless people of all ages and types amidst the flow of traffic and the commercial activities that animate one of the few squares projected by Cerdā within the "Eixample", the district in which he has spent most of his life. Carandell is the author of 25 books in Catalan and 15 in Spanish, among which "La guia secreta de Barcelona", "La Pedrera", "Cosmos de Gaudí", "La víspera de San Juan" and the text of "La Violeta" are worthy of special mention.
